Precoat filtration system for clean cooling lubricants

Contaminated cooling lubricants cause tool wear, quality defects and machine downtime. At KÖBO ECO>PROCESS, we design our precoat filters in such a way that they separate particles down to 5 µm and return the cooling lubricant in a cleaned state. This extends tool life by up to 50 % and significantly reduces your process costs.

Advantages of our precoat filters

Finest filtration

Precoat filters from KÖBO ECO>PROCESS achieve separation efficiencies of up to 5 µm. This keeps your cooling lubricant permanently free of the finest particles that other systems allow to pass through.

Longer tool life

Clean coolant extends the service life of your tools by up to 50 %. Fewer tool changes means lower costs and longer machine running time.

Consistent processing quality

Clean cooling medium reduces tolerance deviations and surface defects. Your components meet dimensional and quality requirements, even in large quantities.

Reduced cooling lubricant consumption

Our precoat filters return the cooling lubricant with a high degree of purity and thus extend its service life.

The need for fresh fluid is significantly reduced.

The compressed air-assisted backwash uses only existing cooling lubricant, which means that no additional water is required. This saves costs and reduces waste during operation.

Simple disposal

The filter aid binds particles in a solid filter cake. This can be easily disposed of or, depending on the material, even economically recycled.

Continuous operation

Automatic cleaning removes saturated filter material without manual intervention. As a result, filtration runs continuously, even in three-shift operation, and downtimes are eliminated.

When precoat filters are the better choice

Belt filters remove coarse chips, but usually do not achieve filtration in the lower micrometer range. Magnetic filters, on the other hand, are only suitable for ferromagnetic particles. Precoat filters, on the other hand, also cover fine non-magnetic particles and ensure filtration levels down to 5 µm. This makes them the best choice when high surface quality, long tool life and constant coolant purity are required.

How precoat filters work and why they are important

A precoat filter uses a carrier medium with cellulose or diatomaceous earth as a layer of filter aid, retains particles down to the single-digit micrometer range and thus ensures permanently clean cooling lubricant, longer tool service life and lower fresh fluid consumption. Depending on the requirements, different filter aids such as diatomaceous earth, cellulose, perlite or silica gel are used. These materials form a stable filter layer and ensure a high separation efficiency with minimal pressure loss.

Without filtration, several serious problems arise in production:

Tool wear

Tool life is drastically reduced because particles attack cutting edges and milling cutters.

Loss of performance of the machines

Blocked pipes and pumps noticeably reduce the delivery rate.

Quality problems with components

Contaminated coolant leads to dimensional deviations and surface defects.

High consumption of fresh liquid

Without recirculation, the need for cooling lubricant increases significantly.

Rising operating costs

Frequent tool changes, higher disposal costs and unplanned downtimes are a burden on production.

How precoat filters pay off for your business

A precoat filter saves operating costs on several levels. Clean cooling lubricant often extends tool life by up to 50 % and significantly reduces tool costs. At the same time, the consumption of fresh fluid is reduced, saving you several thousand liters of coolant per year.

The investment often pays for itself within a few months thanks to less downtime, fewer rejects and reduced disposal costs.

Areas of application for precoat filters

Precoat filters are used wherever cooling lubricants must remain permanently free of fine particles:

In addition to cooling lubricants, precoat filters are also used for oil, aqueous solutions, water treatment and in rolling and pressing processes.
